Currency is one of the world’s most familiar objects—and one of its most revealing miniature monuments. Chinese Imprints on World Currency brings together 150 banknotes and 60 coins from more than 70 countries to uncover images of Chinese-built landmarks, influential figures and international exchange hidden in everyday money. Spanning the development of China’s international cooperation from 1949 to the present, the exhibition transforms political, technological and social history into an accessible visual journey. Its stories range from bridges, ports and hydroelectric plants to hybrid rice, satellite technology and commemorative coins.
